Traveling

I am grateful today for small things…I sit in New Jersey on business. I spent yesterday in the air or an airport. I decided to fly with a connecting flight instead of straight to Newark to save money as well as get some sky miles. After yesterday I don’t know if I will do it again or not. I flew to Cincinnati for a 3 hour layover that turned into 6 ½. These put me into Newark after dark and driving to the hotel in the dark. I have been here several times before but never know exactly each turn. So here I am driving in the dark trying to read the directions without my glasses etc. Small miracles seem to happen and that I am truly grateful for. Just hope my flight through Atlanta tomorrow goes smoothly

Thoughtful Strangers

Friday afternoon my father, who is not as young as he used to be nor does he have the strength he used to have, went for a walk around the pond down by the dump. He slipped and fell in the mud face first. His glasses cut his face pretty bad. He did not have the strength to get up so he laid there till a lady that was walking saw him and helped to roll him out of the mud. She then got another couple who were in the parking lot to come help get my dad up, into his truck then they drove him home where he called my mom and she called me to come see if he needed stitches. (He did so she took him to the docs)
So I am very grateful for complete strangers who are willing to help a old man stuck face first in the mud
As well as being grateful for the time I have left with my dad.

Facebook

It looks like everyone and their dog are now doing facebook. I set one up just to be able to see what the kids have posted etc. Randy said I needed to be on facebook so people from my past can get hold of me...what if I don't care about the people from my past? I even have a program on my blackberry that keeps me up to date with my facebook file.
I will have to post pics etc and see what happens.

I am grateful for the chance to keep up with what is going on with the kids.

Small Blessing (so far)

Randy and Nat are both sick. I think it is a bad cold/flu. Fortunly they are not throwing up. That is the first small blessing. Second blessing is that so far the baby has not yet got it. Last night Maggie hard a rough night and a fever but tthat could be due to her teething two top teeth.
I have avoided getting sick as well...I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Still here

It has been a long time since last I wrote. It does not mean that I have nothing to be grateful for…only that life sometimes gets in the way.
I am grateful for everything that I have, the big items and the small. I am also grateful that life is busy and does get in the way of typing on a blog. I would hate to have too much time on my hands.

Cake Destroyer

Maggie had another birthday cake yesterday. We celebrated with the kids. She really got into digging into her cake. Oh to be young!

Broadway on DVD

Here I sit having a great time watching and listening to a new DVD I picked up from Redbox.
The Broadway version of RENT!. Before it closed they filmed a couple of the last shows and put together the stage performance. We saw this when the first touring show came to Salt Lake. Then saw the movie on opening day. We have the cd’s from Broadway as well as the movie version and the DVD of the Movie. Guess we are sort of rentheads.
I love this show! I am so grateful that they filmed the stage version. I know that live. theater means something special and some feel that by filming it you lose something. I agree but also want more filmed. I always wanted to see it on Broadway but we have not made it to New York yet. Also this is a way I can share it with my kids etc that will never get the chance to see it now that it has closed.
I also loved the DVD of Joseph. (Donny Osmond is the one and true Joseph for sure)
I wish they would film several other stage versions:
Scarlet Pimpernel
Adia
Civil War
Les Mis (Boy I wish they would do this one) They did the 10th anniversary concert, but it is not the same as the full show)

Doctor Visit

I had to go into the Doctors today to have a follow-up check up for Blood Pressure and get a refill on my meds.
I have to admit that I am grateful for the Doc as well as modern medicine. Now I know if I lose weight my blood pressure would not be a problem. So I guess I am also grateful for the chance to go to the gym and work out.

All in all I am grateful for anything that will give me more time with my loving family.

Maggie Happy Big Day

One year ago Maggie came into our lives! I well remember getting the call while at the library telling me to get home NOW!
Today I once more have to say how grateful I am for our wonderful birth mother. She has given my family something I never could. Her strength and courage are a great example to us and will be too Maggie as she grows and learns her story.
I also have to say how grateful I am for a perfect wife and mother.
Natalie made Maggie a cake to destroy. Of course Maggie didn’t smash in as others might. We never let her smash her food, but she did do ok in making a mess.
Kids are funny.

Now we look forward to another year and then another beyond that.
