square foot gardening

Our garden is growing like crazy. When we started this new idea I was not sure how it would work out but I have to admit that it is great.

I am grateful for the help I get in the garden...true it make more work at times for me but I love the time Boo and I spend together in the yard. Here are a few shots to show what I mean.

Just like Mom

It has always amazed me how Natalie can go shopping and enjoy it so much.
Last night we were at Old Navy and Boo was just going nuts running around looking at the clothes.
Heaven help me as she gets older....

How Dandelions spread

I was pretty happy that my yard has been free of those pesky yellow monsters. The few I have seen I have dug up asap. This morning as I was watering the garden I notice a few in the back yard. I had thought I had got rid of all of them. Then I came across these pics from last week.

Guess Randy decided to show his little sister how fun it is to blow on dandelions...(too bad one look at Boos face makes me stop being mad)

I am so grateful that she loves her brothers and sister and that they adore her!

Summer is starting

As the temp goes up I am reminded that summer is almost here. Next big thing I have to do is find the perfect birthday present for Natalie...some years I do great, some I do not.
Last year I would joke that Boo was her mothers day and birthday present but that wont fly this year hahahahaha.
This morning while at work I looked at a few blogs of family and friends and was struck with the miracle of the whole thing.
No longer do you have to wonder what they are doing. I was able to see current pics of my grandson and see how great he is doing.(even though I talk to Jo last night for an update)
The garden is looking good, my wife and Maggie love to be outside, we have new central air that will more than likely be turned on Sunday, Nat wants to learn how to mow my parents yard in order to help me each week...life is good!

Help in the Garden

This year we have decided to do square foot garden planting. About a month ago I made a 4 x 4 foot box.

Today we planted 2 more garden boxes (2x2) and all the flowers...needless to say I had help.

I am so grateful for Boo's love to help and just wanting to be outside.

I am exicted to see how the square foot garden idea is going to work out. Not only did we do 2 more small boxes but I planted some tomatoes and peppers in an old wheel barrow we have.

Can hardly wait to see how it all comes up.
Of course clean up for Boo was eaiser than for me...

Start of the garden

Several weeks ago I planted the start of our garden. It is starting to come up nicely. I am grateful that we can at least try to grow some of our food. It not only saves on the food bill but it feels good to be outside. Yesterday we went and got our flowers for the season. I love the yard when it is done. Of course I hate doing the yard work but I love it when it looks good.

Birth Mothers Day

The Saturday before Mother’s Day is known as Birth Mothers Day. For those of us who have had ours lives forever changed by the miracle of adoption it is a very important day.
I am so grated to our wonderful birth mother who gave us what we could not give ourselves. Boo is the perfect child for our family and we know she would not be here if not for the strength and courage of a young lady who made a plan for her babys future and gave her more than she could on her own.
We love our birth mother and I am so grateful for her. A day does not go by that I do not think of her. I see her in Boo and in the smile that comes over my wife as she gets to be a mom.

reboot =rebirth?

I mentioned that Randall and I were headed to Star Trek. What a great movie!!!
I only had a few items that bugged me but the majority of the movie was great! I am grateful Randy insisted we see it on IMAX...what a treat

Not midnight (thank goodness)

Today Star Trek gets the reboot treatment...I am excited, Randy and I are heading to the Imax for the 7 pm show. I must admit that I am a Trek geek. I would not go so far as to say I am a Trekkie but I have seen all the TV shows and Movies.
Tonight it all gets rebooted...I am just grateful that it is not a midnight show, that will have to wait for Terminator

If Maggie's an aunt then I'm a...

Jo had her baby last night. (She told us we could post the pics.) For details and more pics check out Natalie's blog.

I have to admit that it has not sunk in that I am a grandpa!!!

I am so grateful for the smooth deliverly as well as the fact that mom and baby are fine.

Josh, Jo and Jaxon, the three J's! It is so cool to see the family grow.

Start of Midnight shows

Randy Cody and I went to the midnight show of Wolverine! It was good. Just what I expected from it. I know the critics don't really like it but for a comic book movie it was great.
This is just the start of the movie season...next week is Star Trek, then Terminator, night at the museum, GI Joe, Harry Potter, and a few I can't remember right now. I told the boys I was getting too old for this and they said I had to do it since it was tradition.
Grateful for the relationship I have with my kids. I also called Jo and she is ready to deliver any time...I'm too young at heart to be a grandpa!
