I love it when I hear my wife laugh! When my kids laugh! I love it when people laugh…now sometimes they have laughed at me instead of with me and that is not as enjoyable. But still I love to hear laughter. This past week as the family got together it was the ringing laughter that filled the house with love. The memories I have of growing up are many but the most enjoyable are surrounded with music and laughter. I think it is a God given gift that makes us to be able to laugh. (Another God given gift is the ability to cry, but I will save that for a future entry) I believe laughter can heal a hurt body as well as a hurt soul. It can help with an awkward moment or start to fix a broken/ damage relationship. So go out and find something to laugh about, then, share it with somebody you love.
My wife and I were talking about writing in journals. She mentioned that she heard that even if you can not write a formal journal you should at least write something you are grateful for each day. I love that idea so I stole it! Enjoy

Good Books
I heard someone once say that “Good books are like old friends. You need to drop in on them every once in awhile to see how they are doing.” I love reading. I am so grateful for a mother who showed me the value and joy of reading. “Where the Wild Things Are” is the first book I ever remember reading or being read (I passed that on to my kids as well). I started thinking about this since my lovely wife bought me 2 really nice wood bookshelves for Christmas. I have a lot of books, not near as many as I used to have, but I filled both bookcases. Some books I had no problem giving away, others I refuse to, they are like a part of me. Last year we had a huge yard sale and I had 30+ Church books out. A gentleman got all excited when he saw the books since his daughter loves to read and really enjoys that type of book, but since they are hard back and cost a bit, she has limited supply. I sold him the lot for 10 bucks. They were going to a good home after all and that was more important than money.

Burps
I must admit that I am grateful for burps. Not listening to others burp or even myself, but sometimes the relief that comes after a good burp is like nothing else. I also am glad that burps happen cuz if they did not everything would get out another way and that could be bad (if you know what I mean)

Forks
I brought a Lean Cuisine for lunch today. I put it in the micro wave and heated it up. (Both Lean Cuisine and Micro Waves could be their own entries) I then took it in my office, pulled back the cover and got ready to dig into my Chicken. But as I reached in my drawer for a fork I found nothing. My carefully cultivated stash was gone! I then looked out in the reps area and nothing. I ended up using a spoon and knife. Have you ever tired to eat Chicken and green beans with a spoon? Not cool at all. They fall off and the chicken slips. Not a fun way to eat, so forks are my grateful item for today!

My Wife
I am so grateful for a wife that not only completes me but makes me better than I am!
She laughs at my jokes, (when funny, when not she tells me that they are dumb).
She makes sure my clothes match.
She lets me cry when I feel touched by a movie or story. (she always hides a slight smile, knowing that I am easily touched, and I love her that much more for it)
Her laugh fills my soul with a smile.
Her simple reply of "You should" when I tell her I love her always touches me. I know it sounds dumb but it works for us. I tell her daily that I do not deserve her and she tells me she loves me.
She loves my kids and has a better relationship with them than I do.
She supports me in my work and Church callings.
She has not forgotten what I say my dreams are(even if I pretend that I have.) and she reminds me of them.
Her eyes sparkle when she looks at me and that melts my heart.
Most of all I am grateful for a woman that makes me want to do my best each day!
